What to do in Sorgues

Discover the town on the Sorgues heritage trail. Departing from the town hall, this one-hour stroll will take you on a tour of the town’s many historic buildings and residences. For a breath of fresh air, the Ile de l’Oiselay, just outside Sorgues, is ideal for hiking and biking on the numerous trails. This island of greenery is part of the Natura 2000 network for the preservation of the environment. The trails are signposted, allowing you to discover a large number of animal and plant species on this exceptional site.
What to do in the Sorgues area
Less than 20 minutes by car from Sorgues, the city of Avignon is a must-see.
Stroll through the medieval streets as you please. Admire the Palais des Papes and the Pont Saint-Bénézet, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You’ll be able to see some beautiful Renaissance-style townhouses, and take a gourmet break in one of the beautiful old squares along the way.
Also close to Sorgues, the town of Orange is well worth a visit. The “City of Princes” is home to 2 UNESCO World Heritage monuments, the Théâtre Antique and the Arc de Triomphe.
The Lac de Monteux, near Sorgues, is the ideal place to spend some family time by the water. This leisure park, where swimming is permitted, offers views of the famous Mont Ventoux.
For a real cool break for the whole family, visit the Grottes de Thouzon, where temperatures of 13 degrees are guaranteed in all seasons! This is the only natural cave in Provence designed for tourism. During a 45-minute guided tour, discover astonishing yellow and gold stalactites and walk through the fossilized bed of an ancient underground river.
